THE COOPERATION WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE CONTINUES

The U.S. Department of State continues to actively assist in the implementation of a number of projects at the ANPP. The working meeting, which took place on July 6, 2022, was devoted to the discussion of the current projects and future cooperation. After a long pause caused by the pandemic, the representatives of the U.S. government, in particular the Department of Energy, PNNL and WSC, again visited the Armenian NPP. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Armatom RI CJSC and Atomservice OJSC.

The most important project, which is being implemented with co-funding from the American side, is aimed at a full-scope simulator implementation. The work has been partially carried out, active and efficient steps are being taken to complete the project.

At this stage, special stress was also laid on the organization of the NPP operating personnel training on the full-scope simulator to ensure fail-safe and normal operation of Unit 2.

During the meeting other key issues related to the further operation of the ANPP were also discussed, namely the construction of a new spent fuel dry storage module, the issues of radwaste temporary storage, etc.

At the end of the meeting, thanking the representatives of the American side, E. Martirosyan, General Director expressed hope that the partnership relations, that had developed over the years, would be further strengthened.
