AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL HAS BEEN CONDUCTED AT THE ARMENIAN NPP

With a view to improve the personnel skills in emergency response on 28 August, 2020 an emergency response drill was conducted at the ANPP jointly with the WANO-MC Regional Crisis Centre. The drill started at 10:00.

The plant shift supervisor classified the emergency situation after which a notification was made according to the «Chart of notification for classification of an incident at the ANPP as an «Alarm», a «Local Accident», a «General Accident».

1.      According to the drill scenario the following activities were performed:

a/    evaluation of the situation and classification of the accident,

b/    notification,

c/    providing the  relevant authorities with information and completed forms,

d/    fire extinguishing activities.

2.      The drill was attended by the following people:

·         Drill manager – Chief Engineer,

·         Per two participants from the Analytical and Engineering Support Groups of the plant emergency response system,

·         Public relations and mass media coordinator,

·         Personnel of the ANPP shift “D”: plant shift supervisor, shift supervisors of the       RD, TD, ED, I&CD, RSD, reactor control leading engineer, turbine control leading engineer, leading engineer of electrical control panel (ECP), duty electrician of DTCS and diesel generator operator.

·         Personnel of the ANPP special fire brigade.

3.      The following people were appointed as supervising people:

·         in the Crisis Management Centre – Deputy Head of Training Centre,

·         in the Full-Scope Simulator room – Senior Plant Shift Supervisor,

·         in ECP room– Leading Engineer of OPTD.

When the drill was completed its analysis was performed.

The supervising people provided information on the personnel actions during the drill, mistakes and deficiencies. 

Based on the results of the drill analysis, activities will be developed to eliminate the identified deficiencies in due time.
