On October 18, 2022 Arzybek Kozhoshev, Member of the Board, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC and representatives of the EAEU paid a familiarization visit to the Armenian NPP on the delegation headed by Hakob Vardanyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia.

During the walkdown of the ANPP production site E. Martirosyan, General Director of the HAEK CJSC informed the visitors that the units of the Armenian NPP were put into commercial operation within the period of 1976-1980. Due to the 1988 destructive earthquake the plant was transferred to a long shutdown mode. Later, in November, 1995 following the implementation of a number of safety enhancement activities and relevant checks only Unit 2 was restarted. Currently the unit is operating at power of 380 MW and it ensures about 40% of the energy supply of the republic.

In response to the questions of interest to the representatives of the EAEU the General Director also provided detailed information on the scope of the work performed in the framework of the ANPP Unit 2 modernization, the specific equipment, as well as the upcoming activities. It was also noted that about 1600 highly qualified employees are currently working at the plant, who are performing the main repair work.
